About the Property
Mulberry Barn is situated on the southern slopes of rural Crowborough and is the latest development by Belleville Homes and local construction company Eos. Situated at the end of a private lane and in a plot size approximately ¾ of an acre, this brand new 4600 square foot house has the external appearance of two Sussex barns nestled into the corner of a Wealden field and bounded on the north and east by mature oak trees.
MULBERRY BARN - TRADITIONAL DESIGN IN A MODERN CONTEXT
When you enter the house through the impressive canopy and glazed entrance wall you are immediately greeted by the wonderfully spacious living areas and vaulted ceilings and then struck by the extensive views of the Sussex Weald and the South Downs beyond.
The external elevations borrow the timeless materials of local rural buildings such as local stock bricks with stone features, handmade clay roof tiles and black timber cladding. The internal features also make use of traditional materials although the design and specification moves towards a more contemporary style highlighted by the bespoke oak staircase with glass balustrading
The social hub of the house is the vast kitchen/dining hall/living area which amply demonstrates the blend of traditional materials, a spacious living area and the benefits of modern technology.
Beyond the daytime living areas, the bedrooms surround a paved courtyard and each hotel room' sized bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The main bedroom, however, is hotel suite' sized and boasts a separate wardrobe and dressing room and plenty of space within the bedroom for a king-sized bed and additional chairs, or maybe a sofa? Leading off the bedroom is the ensuite bathroom with a separate walk-in wet room containing a large shower area and stand-alone luxury stone bath.
From a technical point of view, the construction of the house is at the forefront with gas fired underfloor heating throughout, a mechanical ventilation system which wafts fresh air into all bedrooms and living areas, and an array of PV panels to provide some free electrical power. And finally, to keep both young and old happy, a superfast fibre optic broadband connection.
